Abstraction was once understood by some as the democratisation of painting. Its unintended consequence was the opposite. Open plan offices and a plethora of management strategies are motivated by a similarly benevolent desire (albeit for less lofty reasons) to foster a sense of inclusion amongst the workforce with, it seems to me, entirely equivalent results.

This is a small set of paintings that cluster around a common experience of life in modern offices.
